Last week, Amador Valley leadership hosted a video game tournament. With PUSD’s continued remote learning, the goal of the event was to connect students in a fun way.

Leadership staff pulled out all the stops to virtually connect students through this tournament. Winners of different games received either a Razer Wireless mouse, a Razer Headset, or an Xbox or Ps4 controller.

“We decided to do video game tournament week because we were trying to come up with ways we could still encourage student interconnectedness online,” said ASB Task Leader Gurreet Chahal (’21).

For Minecraft Monday, students gamed against each other on either a PC or laptop. Next came Among Us Tuesday; students joined on their phones and worked together to vote out the impostor. The game moderators had lots of fun watching students interact.

“I enjoyed hearing the discussions from the Among Us game. It was great to see everyone to connect online,” said AV Leadership student Gaurav Sakhardande (’21).

Students played Clash Royale on Wednesday and battled in Fortnite on Friday. On Thursday, students turned off their wifi and played Google’s dinosaur game.

“The competitions during video game week seemed really fun. I wish I got to join with my friends and compete against them to win prizes,” said Miranda Bohen (’23).

Ultimately, video game week was successful in bringing students together; playing online with friends during this crazy school year can give students a sense of relief.
