As Girl Scout cookie season arrives, orders for popular classics like Thin Mints and Samoas are rolling in. However, this year introduces two new cookies to the lineup!
Delicious Lineup
“The first one is Toast-Yay!, a French toast-inspired cookie flavored with cinnamon. The second is the Caramel Chocolate Chip cookie, which is gluten-free and exactly what it sounds like,” said Girl Scout Simran Shinkre (‘27).
Despite the excitement, the new flavors haven’t quite matched the popularity of traditional favorites.
“They’re not as popular as the old ones. The gluten-free one is in demand because people want gluten-free cookies, but the originals are still more popular,” said Girl Scout Savannah Stoehr (‘27).
The introduction of these new cookies stems from a manufacturer switch in the Girl Scout cookie program.
“In the past, we worked with Little Brownie Bakers, the bakery behind the cookies most people know. However, this year, we switched to ABC Baker. The recipes are slightly tweaked but mostly the same. Thin Mints and Tagalongs are still here, but their names are swapped. ABC Baker also offers two cookies our previous baker didn’t have—Toast-Yays, a French toast cookie, and the gluten-free Caramel Chocolate Chip,” said Stoehr (‘27).
This transition helps resolve past challenges with delivery and stock shortages, making cookies more accessible.
“We actually switched manufacturers because we had a lot of issues with delivery and stock. Now, our cookies are more available, so there’s no cookie shortage,” said Shinkre (‘27).
The new flavors are already gaining traction among students, particularly those looking for gluten-free options.
“I thought the new Girl Scout cookies were pretty good; the texture was interesting. I’d give it a seven out of ten,” said Alexa Stone (‘27).
With these exciting additions to the lineup, there’s never been a better time to indulge in Girl Scout cookies while supporting a great cause!
