On Jan. 26, the Firehouse Arts Center wrapped up its first production of Finding Nemo Kids. The kids and staff worked hard to ensure it was a fun and exciting experience for all. This 30-minute production takes the classic story of Finding Nemo and puts a musical spin on it.
Rehearsals and Preparation
Prior to the show, kids ages 5-14 worked in rehearsals to learn and play with perfection. Despite the age gap between the performers, they all came together and put on a good show. They were creative and loved putting a little spin on their role.
“Sitting in on rehearsals, I saw them using their blocking and choreography to make their own choices with their characters,” said City Library and Recreation Coordinator Jeff Zavattero.
The Firehouse Arts Center website posted a summary of the show on their website ahead of time. The word spread and an amazing audience gathered for this performance–for the kids to be able to show off their skills to the crowd.
“This show brings a vibrant underwater world to life on stage in a story full of family, friendship, and adventure,” said the Firehouse Arts Center Instagram Manager.
The kids put on a wonderful show and looked like they were having the best time while doing it. They didn’t skip a beat and knew all their lines and choreography. Being able to see such an iconic movie from a viewer’s childhood being narrated by kids themselves is a unique experience.
Satisfactory Experience for Audience Members
The Firehouse Arts Center did a great job accommodating parents and children in the theater. Parents were welcome to take pictures of their kids on stage after the show. Additionally, if any audience member was disruptive while watching the show, there was a viewing of the production on a TV in the lobby.
