The start of a new year is a perfect time to reflect, reset, and recharge. It marks a time to transform your life in a positive way and strive for the best. Whether you’re aiming for better health or improved productivity, the habits you adopt can set you up for greatness. Let’s explore routines for success to make your year the best one yet.
“I love the new year, as it’s a time to start fresh and become an improved version of yourself. It’s a time to mark a clean slate. However, this transition may feel difficult without guidance or support,” said Sanjana Subramanian (‘26).
Habits to Implement This Year
“As a student-athlete, establishing a healthy morning routine is so important for me. I wake up early and journal to reflect and set myself up for success,” said Amador Cheerleader Allison Medios (‘26).
Studies show that a productive morning routine is vital. It increases productivity, reduces stress or anxiety, and is great for habit formation.
A Successful Year
“At the beginning of each year, I like to make a vision board and write down specific, achievable goals,” said Junior Pehar Patnaik (‘26). “This way, I know what I am aiming for.”
Setting goals is only the beginning—success comes from the dedication to pursue them and the resilience to overcome obstacles along the way.
“With this, I can get a clear idea of what I want the year to look like. If I achieve these goals, I consider the year successful,” said Patnaik.
Vision boards are a creative way to envision yourself and set realistic goals. Popular influencers like Mikayla Mags and Sara Carrolli endorse them for motivation.
Romanticizing Your Journey
“Life can hit you hard at some points,” said AV Student Meher Chemban (‘26). “However, romanticizing your journey and showing interest in areas that seem boring can make you more successful.”
Finding joy in the process and embracing challenges can transform even the hardest moments into opportunities for growth and self-improvement.
“It can also help you improve areas of weakness that you may have,” said Chemban.
Romanticization helps us understand how fortunate we are. It combines mindfulness and gratitude to set us up for success. It’s a way to be grateful for what you have and grow stronger. That’s what the New Year is all about.
