The 2024 season of the Amador Valley High School Marching Band concludes with final practices and a series of unforgettable achievements. Highlights of the season include a memorable trip to Los Angeles, securing 10th place out of 144 bands at the Bands of America Championships, and an impressive third place in the regional championships.
“We had our regional championships and we placed third, which is I think is the highest we’ve placed since my freshman year, so that was a really cool experience,” said Senior Drum Major Vardaan Singhania (‘25).
Welcoming New Members to the Band Family
Every year, the marching band welcomes new members into its community, strengthening its bond. This year’s additions brought fresh energy and contributed to the band’s success.
“It was really, really fun getting to know new people and this year the band gained a few numbers, which was nice to see. And I think we did a really good job at teaching all those new members. I love just being able to interact with so many people that I wouldn’t otherwise, especially people from other grades that we generally don’t get to meet,” said Woodwind Captain Lia Lebreton (’25).
A Creative and Colorful Performance
The marching band’s annual show combines music and visuals to create an exciting experience. This year’s show, Color Full, earned recognition at top competitions with its unique theme and musical selections.
“Our show’s name is Color Full and it features many songs. The theme revolves around colors; each section of the show represents different colors and different moods. And the season went pretty well at the Bands of America Champs. We got 10 out of 144,” said Alto Sax player Kari Song (‘27).
A Season of Memories and Farewells
As the season ends, band members gather to celebrate their journey at the winter banquet. Seniors share their experiences and pass leadership roles to the next generation.
“We have a winter banquet in the middle of December, and at that banquet, everyone gets these silly awards. I as senior drum major pass down the crown to my junior drum major or drum majors. We also recently had a senior farewell where all the seniors did their farewell speeches,” said Sanghania.
The 2024 season ends with laughter and reminiscing. Band members reflect on their accomplishments and look forward to the future.
