Last Thursday, the Amador Valley girls tennis team took to the courts at the 2024 EBAL tournament, showcasing their skills and determination.
Looking Back
“I feel like the team itself was very happy and proud that they were able to win. I think we won five games this season, and we were able to go to EBALS. The most rewarding part was winning our last and final game against Condolette. It was also senior night, so a lot of the players wanted to win for our seniors. It was really rewarding to be able to give that to them.” said Vedika Gowda (‘26).
The journey to EBAL was a bit challenging, as some players had to step into new leadership roles. With tough competition ahead, the team knew they needed to support each other to bring out their best for the team.
“I think taking on the role as team captain was a big step. It was a time to step up from being an underclassman or just a player on the team to trying to be a better leader. I think everyone on the team did a great job in creating that environment and helping me become a good team leader,” said Aditi Deshpande (‘25).
The challenging journey can be a great source of inspiration for the players, motivating them to work even harder. Working alongside the team pushes the players to be better. It’s sure to drive them to keep improving and pushing their limits in future matches.
“The most rewarding part was making connections and meeting a lot of new people and friends on the team. My goals for next season are obviously to improve as much as I can. I plan to play as frequently as I can, take classes at my tennis academy, take private lessons, and play with a lot of my friends outside of classes,” said Jillian Zingerman (‘28).
