As the weather cools down, there is nothing better to end the day with some fall flavors treats. From pumpkin to apple, to cinnamon, one of the best parts of autumn is whipping up fun seasonal treats.
“I like baking because that warms up the house and makes it smell so wonderful. There’s nothing more comforting than walking into a room and you smell freshly baked rolls or pumpkin bread,” said Culinary Skills teacher Steven Dady.
The foremost flavor that comes to mind when you think of fall is, of course, pumpkin. However, there are plenty of recipes for all taste palates. This season, spice up your kitchen with any of these fun fall recipes.
Super Soft Pumpkin Cookies with Maple Cream Cheese Icing
This recipe is a tried and true tradition that the culinary class makes annually. These pumpkin cookies combine some of fall’s most iconic flavors in one delicious package. The actual pumpkin flavor is enhanced by cinnamon, ginger, and pumpkin pie spice, and the maple icing elevates this treat.
“[The] pumpkin cookie [is] really delicious soft and super soft,” said Dady.
Cinnamon Apple Snickerdoodles
A twist on the traditional treat, these cinnamon apple snickerdoodles are a major crowd pleaser. They look and taste fancy but only require a few extra steps to achieve these wonderful cookies. The cinnamon of the snickerdoodle perfectly complements the apple filling, creating a wonderful bite.
“I bake these every fall because they taste so warm and my family and neighbors request these every year. I just love how the apples taste with the snickerdoodle flavor,” said Sarah Price (‘26).
Pumpkin Pie
An annual favorite, there is nothing that says fall like a classic pumpkin pie. This treat is also super simple to make! Using store-bought (or if you’re feeling more ambitious, homemade) pie crust, simply fill it with the pumpkin filling that you heat up on the stove. This dessert is unmatched in terms of flavor and nostalgia.
“Nothing says family and gathering and gratitude like a pumpkin pie,” said Dady.
Apple Crumble
This recipe brings all the comfort and warmth of apple pie without the complications. This recipe takes just minutes to make. The apple caramelizes in the oven and pairs nicely with the texture of the crumble.
“Apple crumble is the easiest thing to make and it tastes really like fall. Sometimes I even make a singular serving because it’s so good and easy” said Sofia Carreira (‘26).
Brown Butter Pumpkin Spiced Rice Krispy Treats
This is an autumn twist on a childhood favorite. These Rice Krispies require no baking and are great to make for functions or guests. The browned butter and pumpkin spice elevate this simple dessert to the next level.
“I really like this recipe because Rice Krispies are really simple to make and the extra steps are so worth it because it adds so much extra flavor, and it tastes like you spent a long time baking when you really didn’t,” said Price.
There is something so special about fall baking. Whether you’re baking for family, friends, or yourself, these recipes are excellent options for the next baking thing.
