Beautiful melodies filled the air as Amador Valley’s choir made its second debut on October 21, sharing the stage with Symphony and Orchestra to deliver a memorable night of music for all attendees.
Choir sang a total of 5 songs. To start the night, Choir sang Good Day by Franti, Spearhead/Blakely. In addition to the choir’s response, Symphony and Orchestra played their best songs for everyone in attendance. The performances included Tchaikovsky’s greatest hits and Non Capisco Niente.
“Choir is a sport. We are a family. Amador’s choir program is a fun, memorable, and musical experience,” said Choir student Neela Mandel (’27).
The night wasn’t just about fundraising; it featured a cake decorating competition, where students and parents competed to win the top prize. The concert also held a raffle and bidding for the cake fundraiser.
“[The Cake Auction & Competition] raises funds for choir and orchestra because they have many expenses that aren’t covered by the district, such as transportation to events, replacement strings, instrument parts, attire—many things that require funding. So, they held a cake auction and a silent auction with donations generously provided by local merchants along with sponsors like Meadowlark Dairy, Granada Bowl, and many others,” said Shelby Ferrari.
People bought raffle tickets and placed them in buckets for prizes they hoped to win. Students and parents also competed to decorate the best cake, with Claire Kim taking home the award for “The Magical Beast.”
