As the 2024 fantasy football season hits its midpoint, breakout stars and unexpected injuries are shaking up league standings. Whether you’re in first place, or clawing your way back from early setbacks, the second half of the season could make or break your chances of a fantasy championship.
“I do Yahoo fantasy and Free draft, and they give you a grade. I got D minuses in both of my grades, but I’m in first place so I don’t think the draft grades mean anything,” said Football Coach Brent Miller.
So far, the unpredictability of top NFL players has left many fantasy owners scrambling to adapt. Big-name stars like Isaiah Pacheco and Anthony Richardson have delivered inconsistent performances, frustrating those who spent early draft picks on them.
“My worst player this week was Zach Moss, he scored zero points because he fumbled the football and only had like 15 yards,” said Miller.
On the flip side, breakout stars such as are emerging as league-winning steals, proving that a well-timed waiver wire pickup can make all the difference.
“My breakout player this year has definitely been David Montgomery, he scored 20 ish points this week and I think he scored a touchdown too,” said Chris Hoang (‘26).
Injuries are continuing to plague the league, leaving managers wondering when their team will be back to full strength and if they will make it to the playoffs.
“I have Christian McCaffrey and Christian McCaffrey’s a big scorer. And because Christian McCaffrey’s out, I had to find running backs and my team does not win every game without Christian McCaffrey,” said Arsh Mavi (‘25).
