As news broke of the delay, anticipation for Pleasanton’s new Costco grew ahead of its early next year opening. First, they must complete street improvements to ensure a smooth grand opening.
“I love Costco because of the samples. They also have a lot of good items for cheap,” said Savannah Stoehr (‘27).
From cotton candy grapes to tissue boxes and other products, a new Costco in Pleasanton greatly improves daily efficiency. However, the company must navigate a few more bumps on the road before they call this change a success.
“I think it’s been taking a long time and building a new freeway lane in order to get to the new Costco is a pain. But I think it will be worth it,” said Stoehr.
Other residents believe the new construction to be incredibly beneficial for the community, traffic difficulties or not. Most importantly, Pleasanton customers can easily grab their favorite products nearby, avoiding the hassle of driving farther. The new location will likely attract more Costco supporters due to the convenience and ease it offers.
“The nearest Costco in the Tri-Valley area is in Livermore – which I don’t think is efficient at all for people,” said Pleasanton resident Donny Wong.
Controlling the traffic and road layout is the main priority of the city so far. However, the looming one-way exit will either intimidate shoppers or the convenience will win the hearts of the people.
“It will be more convenient for certain Costco shoppers if they live nearby, but that area will become more busy and the traffic more congested. Overall I do like Costco and I can’t think of any [ big] improvements off the top my head [besides a new location],” said alumni Ethan Yeung,

All this talk about congestion, in Livermore the only congestion is in the parking Lot!

Terrible article when compared to the headline. Did not really explain why the delay or what caused the delay, what is being done to mitigate the issues.
