Last weekend, hundreds of Corgis, Dachshunds, Bulldogs, and other “stumpy” dogs descended upon the Alameda County Fairgrounds for a celebration of short-statured dogs at StumpyCon. Here’s some highlights.
-
Owners decked their dogs out in all kinds of gear. Odesza, a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, is seen rocking some dog sunglasses.
-
Corgis can have long coats, like the one pictured. If you want a Husky that cannot counter-surf, this is the dog for you.
-
Pickles, a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, poses in the afternoon sun. Many corgis are pros at posing for photos, as their owners love to share pictures of them on social media.
-
The day buzzed with excitement as all kinds of fun events were happening throughout the day.
-
Rex, the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, flopped down in the middle of the sidewalk. Those short legs can only take you so far!
-
The owners of the Squeaky and Co. booth pose with their irresistably cute dog accessories. I even gave in to a Pocky toy for my dog!
-
WoofBoard, one of the most unique stands present at StumpyCon, was selling delicious “Barkuterie” boards, with a variety of fun-shaped dog treats.
-
Check out these StumpyConners’ custom t-shirts, adorned with their corgi’s name and portrait. That’s fetching!
-
Kai poses on a podium. Not sure what he won, but he sure looks thrilled to be there!
-
Kai, like thousands of other dogs present, has an Instagram account dedicated to his adventures and outfits. Check it out at @liru_kai.
-
An obstacle course offered a challenge for all dogs to try at StumpyCon. Watching owners attempt to coax their stubborn-natured dogs, especially the corgis and dachshunds, to try and tackle the course gave many attendees a laugh.
-
“Can I pet your dog?” was one of the most repeated phrases at Stumpycon, along with “awwww!”
-
If you didn’t bring a stumpy dog, you could certainly bring one home (in plushie form).
