The Amador Valley Football team has just come off a stellar season. The team finished with a 7-3 record and went undefeated in the East Bay Valley League. One of the many stars this year has been senior Nate Jetter (‘24), leading the team in total touchdowns for the 2023 season.
“He’s the most unselfish football player that I have coached. When the ball wasn’t in his hands, he was trying to do whatever he could to make his teammates better. I think that’s what makes Nate Jetter special,” said AV Football Coach Danny Jones.
Jetter has been playing football for the majority of his life. What started as a hobby eventually became a growing passion and love for the sport.
“I started playing football when I was in third grade [when] I saw my brother playing it. I thought it was fun and was immediately interested,” said Jetter.
This year, Jetter placed on the First Team All-League Receiver as well as the First Team All-League Safety, two awards he has won for the past two years, a part of his long and accomplished career.
“Some other memorable moments from my career are winning League this year as a senior and beating Foothill my junior year,” said Jetter.
For the 2023 fall season, Jetter racked up an astonishing 641 yards and thirteen touchdowns in only eight games. He tied the school record for most touchdowns in one game with four catches against Livermore on Oct. 13.
“The most memorable moments I have of him are when he comes over to the sideline and tells me what route he can score on. There’s only certain guys that will tell you that. You’ll believe him, and then you’ll actually call the play for him. That’s what made Nate Jetter special, an absolute student of the game, but also a monster,” said Jones.
Being a leader on the field is more than scoring touchdowns. Jetter has shown throughout the season what it means to lead the team on and off the field.
“He’s just a really well-respected guy. All the guys love him because he’s a really good football player, but also a really good person. So he brought that sort of element to our football team,” said Jones.
Jetter has made an immense impact on the culture of the Amador Valley football community. Whether it’s award-winning seasons or record-breaking games, Jetter is sure to have a legacy here at Amador Valley
“Football has played a huge role in my life. I met my friends, almost all of them through football. It’s definitely had a tremendous impact,” said Jetter.
