AV Leadership worked hard to prepare for the 2023 Homecoming Rally. The event agenda included flamboyant parade floats, talented performers, and a thrilling homecoming proposal.
Spirit Week began on Oct. 10 and culminated in the Homecoming Rally, game, and dance. The spirit days consisted of Band Tees Tuesday, Dressings Wednesday, Board Games Thursday, and Neon Out Friday.
“We just decided to do it because it was a fun spirit day and everyone can participate,” said Ilya Schwartzin-Calvert (‘26). “For the class colors day, that correlates to what board game we’re assigned, so we chose a color around the theme of the game.”
Amador’s Leadership team spent weeks getting ready for this year’s Homecoming Rally. This year’s homecoming theme was board games, a concept chosen after much deliberation.
“The [leadership] students decide on the themes every year during our retreat over the summer — they vote on it. This year’s selection was incredibly difficult to choose from because there were some choices just really up in the air. They ended up choosing the board game idea,” said AV Leadership Advisor Shawn Webber.
Besides classics like Cheerleading, AV Dance Team, and Bollywood, this year’s show also included bubble soccer and a yo-yo showcase.
“This year, we really wanted it to be more interactive with the students. Bringing out the bubble soccer game was something that a lot of people asked for,” said AV Leadership student McKenna Charbonneau (25’).
The Homecoming Court was also announced at the rally, but the highlight of this year’s show was a dazzling Homecoming proposal by Parker Grendahl (‘24) to Brinda Venkat (‘24).
“The proposal was by a well-known couple around campus and we thought it would be great. And it’s just something fun, to loosen it up and create a nice vibe,” said Charbonneau.
