The Zee Cine Awards is an Indian awards ceremony celebrating the glamor of the Hindi film industry and recognizing Bollywood’s most popular films. It is now available for streaming on ZEE5 after airing on Zee TV.

“The Zee Cine Awards is a much-awaited event that brings together the entire country in a celebration of our beloved cinema,” said Bollywood enthusiast Kirtida Nannoo. 

Tracing its roots back to the 1990s, the Zee Cine Awards was instituted to award excellence in Hindi cinema. Over the years, the event has increased in popularity, highlighting the Bollywood name and the various Hindi-language productions that are released throughout the year. 

“It is wonderful to pay tribute to the films that Bollywood has released over the year. It makes me proud to be Indian,” said Gyan Bhambhani (‘23). 

The 2023 Zee Cine Awards featured special appearances and performances from well-known individuals within the industry, including but not limited to Alia Bhatt, Anuphem Kher, Kartik Aaryan, Tiger Shroff,  and Ayan Mukerji. 

“The performances made me stand on my feet. This year, Alia Bhatt’s performance and outfit was truly amazing to see,” said International Viewer Kamini Bhagwan. 

The five categories of the Zee Cine Awards are Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Film, and Best Song of the Year. The winners are selected through a rigorous and transparent process of 100 percent viewer voting, and each trophy is handcrafted in 24 karat gold. 

“I appreciate that the awards are viewer-based. It is not reliant on a panel like the Oscars or other awards ceremonies,” said Bhambhani (‘23). 

The Kashmir Files, Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Bhediya, and Laal Singh Chadda were among the night’s most awarded films. These films were selected on the basis of their cinematography, direction, and developed storylines.

“This year, my favorite Bollywood movie was Pathaan with Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone. The action and stunts truly did impress me,” said Pleasanton Resident Jignesh Kantilal. 

The night drew to a close as Alia Bhatt triumphed as the best actress and Anuphem Kher emerged as the best actor, concluding the evening of awards and performances. 

“The Zee Cine Awards is not just an awards ceremony but an expression of the beauty and grandeur of Indian cinema. It’s a reminder of the rich cultural heritage that we possess, and the influence that Bollywood has on people across the world,” said Kantilal.
