Pleasanton’s famous holiday lights are open to visitors

Two of the most well-known places to experience the magic of the holiday season in Pleasanton are Candy Cane Lane and Widmer World. Only a few blocks apart, both locations offer a variety of holiday attractions visitors of all ages to enjoy.
“I think the attraction is great. It not only brings everybody on the court together, but we do it and we realize it’s worth it. Especially when we see the looks on some of the little kids’ faces and they get all excited. I think it’s just for everyone to kind of jump into the Christmas spirit a bit. And it’s rewarding to see the children happy for sure,” said Candy Cane Lane resident Garry Kreider.
Every home in the neighborhood of Candy Cane Lane is decked beautifully for Christmas. Visitors go through eye-catching displays of blinking lights, vibrant wreaths, and elaborate blow-up figures as theyproceed along the lane.
“I think Candy Cane Lane is a good way to celebrate the Christmas spirit, especially with your family. All the flashing lights create a really fun atmosphere. It’s something I look forward to every year,” said Candy Cane Lane visitor Robert Brown.
The entire Widmer World residence was converted into a winter wonderland for the holiday season. There are enormous decorated Christmas trees, life-size nutcrackers, and even a snowy village with a railway running through it.
“My family visits Widmer World almost every year for all the bright lights and decorations set up during holidays. It always gets me into the Christmas mood and is something I’ll never forget,” said Ava McDinough (’24).
Widmer World and Candy Cane Lane both welcome all visitors and provide free entry. Their popularity mean people need to plan ahead so they can beat the crowds and increase chances of viewing each attraction.
“Christmas lights are my favorite part of Christmas. I love that Pleasanton has so many spots to admire them. I hope the traditions continue so that I can always experience that holiday spirit,” said Candy Cane Lane visitor Christy Brown.
