Friday, November 25th, was the annual Black Friday of 2022. As thousands of customers rushed into the mall, the store Abercrombie & Fitch made a historical sales record for its company, scoring $176,466 in one day and breaking its own record from last year. 

“We were able to sell a lot because we were able to keep the sales floor as full of products. Throughout the day, we were pushing out more products from the stockroom to the sales floor so that people have more options to pick from. A lot of the associates worked long hours to ensure that business was running smoothly and that we could maintain good customer service. We tend to focus more on ensuring that we are able to help customers whereas other stores focus more on how things look visually, so making sure everything is folded perfectly and putting up nice Christmas decorations,” said Megan Kelley, a keyholder.

One of the main factors that contributed to the success of the store is all the hardworking associates. Some employees say Black Friday represents a time to work hard and connect with other employees.

“I think working Black Friday is definitely a memorable and beneficial experience because I got to work with my old friends that came back from college and get closer with new friends that I made recently. It was a great team bonding experience with my co-workers. I also learned and improved a lot since I had to work more efficiently with patience, especially at the end of a long shift,” said one of the spotlight associates, Lucas Martin. 

Abercrombie was also able to attract a group of loyal customers that preferred the brand over other brands. Black Friday brought many shoppers to stores, given the discounts and spirit of that day. 

“Some reasons that I like Abercrombie more than other similar brands like American Eagle is that they [Abercrombie] have huge promotions during the holiday season. This is the only time of the year that I shop a lot, so I would get everything I need for the whole year here all at once. I also like Abercrombie’s quality a lot. They have fairly high-quality clothes at a reasonable price. I shop for my whole family here,” said customer Nikhil Chowdhary.
