On September 27th, after weeks of fans buzzing with rumors, Ned Fulmer, a former member of the Try Guys, confirmed he had cheated on his wife. This caused some uproar among the fans who had been watching for years and led to a series of events that led to Ned no longer being in the Try Guys. 

“I’m just so devastated because I remember watching when I was young seeing his Instagram bio where it says Ariel’s husband, and it just seemed like he was so in love. After he cheated, I was just so surprised,” said Try Guys fan Janaki Rakesh (‘25).

The Try Guys are a group of four consisting of Keith Habersberger, Ned Fulmer, Zach Kornfeld, and Eugene Lee Yang who were originally video producers at Buzzfeed. They started their show in 2014 and quickly became known for trying the most absurd food, experiences, and items on the internet, but this all changed after Ned’s scandal.

“We were obviously incredibly shocked and deeply hurt by all of this. This is someone who we’d built a brand and a company with for eight years,” said Eugene in an interview with Vulture.

Throughout Try Guys videos, Ned was seen talking about his wife, so some fans were surprised when Fulmer confirmed the rumors. The other woman involved, Alex Herring, is a producer on the show, and public attention has been on her since the scandal.

“I’m upset because everyone is blaming Alex for cheating, for the whole cheating scandal, but they were both involved. People, especially Try Guys’ fans, are targeting Alex saying she lured in a married husband. Like no, the married husband was also part of the cheating, but the blame is going to the girl,” said Heejee Yoon(‘23). 

Since the scandal, Ned is no longer working with the Try Guys.  The dynamic group of four was reduced to Eugene, Zach and Keith. The trio released a video on their page on October 5th discussing the issue, but Ned’s statement on Instagram shocked fans as well.

“Family should have always been my priority, but I lost focus and had a consensual workplace relationship. I’m sorry for any pain that my actions may have caused to the guys and the fans but most of all to Ariel,” said Ned Fulmer.

 Pictures of the scandal have been circulating in the media, even reaching fans on TikTok. Those who looked up to Ned and Ariel’s relationship were especially disappointed when the news came out. 

“I know a lot of people who thought that Ned and his wife’s relationship could be a role model for their own relationship because they seemed very stable, but with him cheating and ruining the company and all the legal issues, it’s really just like a blow to all their fans, said Milla Zuniga (‘23).
