On March 11th, The ADAM Project released on Netflix and theaters worldwide. The sci-fi comedy involves time travel and impressive action sequences.

The Story

In 2050, Adam Reed (Ryan Reynolds) goes on a journey to his past to try and fix the present world. He has to go through some obstacles after getting shot and damaging his jet, including ending up in 2022 and having to work with his younger 12-year-old self (Walker Scobell).

His mission to get his wife (Zoe Saldaña) back from her “failed” mission to 2018 ends up in a whirlwind of adventures. From meeting his dad (Mark Ruffalo) before he died to preventing the existence of time travel to stop the antagonist (Catherine Keener) from creating a terrible world, both the younger and older Adam Reed have to go against all odds to complete their mission.

Pros and Cons

Though it seemed substandard in the trailer, The ADAM Project definitely redeemed itself through hilarious dialogue and incredible acting. Ryan Reynolds’ iconic sarcastic humor tied the movie together as well as made it enjoyable to watch. Casting Walker Scobell as the younger Adam Reed was a perfect choice because he mimicked Reynolds’ humor flawlessly.

Ryan Reynolds and Mark Rufallo had great screen chemistry but it was a bit confusing following the storyline behind Adam and his father. Zoe Saldaña and Jennifer Garner had minimal screen time though their character’s were important to the storyline, but they still had fantastic acting. Saldaña’s action sequences were above par, and starring alongside Reynolds made for a great screen couple.

Verdict

Overall, The ADAM Project is a must-watch movie for those who enjoy action comedy as well as some sci-fi time traveling. Ryan Reynolds’ exquisite humor partnered with the incredible acting by the cast made for a feel-good film to watch with friends or family.
