AV Wrestling wins big at their senior night
January 26, 2022
As a commemoration of the dedication and hard work that the seniors’ put into their team, the AV Wrestling Team held their senior night game against Dublin High on January 24th. Bringing in a win boosted the morale and motivation of the teammates for their last few upcoming games.
Due to many of the restrictions being placed on indoor sports, the team was moved around to accommodate injured and sick players.
“The team came out well, and wrestled very well, and wrestled out of their level to come back with a win, so I think it was a huge gift to our seniors to bring home a win tonight, you know they fought hard the entire time,” said team coach, Travis Chub.
With a small ceremony before the game, the team was able to thank and congratulate all the hard work that the seniors had put into the team.
“I have been wrestling since fifth grade, [and] it’s just surreal like, to think that I’m almost over with wrestling. It’s been a huge part of my life, and it is just surreal, yeah,” said senior team member, Blake Kenny (‘22).
Though many talented seniors are leaving this year, the coaches are optimistic about the next year because of the new members who would be filling in the gap.
“I’m very excited for our freshmen and sophomore class, and our junior class is full of strong leaders that have been working hard, and are ready to go put some names on the wall in the wrestling room,” said Chub.
Congratulations to the seniors of the Wrestling Team! We are grateful for your dedication and perseverance to the team.
