Klay Thompson making his return to basketball after over a year
December 21, 2021
Klay Thompson will make his long-awaited season debut this January after tearing his Achilles tendon back on November 18, 2020. The predicted dates for his return are the 9th and the 18th. NBA fans have been highly anticipating seeing him and Stephen Curry back on the court together for the first time since the Game 6 loss in the 2019 NBA Finals.
“I feel happy that Klay is coming back because the Warriors will be even better than they are right now,” said Golden State Warriors fan Carson Sigua (‘23).
With the Warriors off to a hot start to the 2021-22 season with a league-best record of 25-6, many believe the Warriors have a good shot at winning the NBA Finals.
“The Warriors are back in dynasty form as they’re already on top of the league and getting Klay back will get them further while their young players give them a future too,” said long-time NBA fan Daniel Beckley (‘23).
Thompson has had a prestigious career so far averaging 19.5 points, 2.4 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per game, leading him to five all-star appearances and three championships. But many question if he will be able to put up similar numbers when he returns.
“He’s missed some time. He needs to be used to the pace of the game and be conditioned more than he’ll be back,” said Sigua.
No matter what happens on the court, fans will still be grateful to see the three-time champion back on the court.
“It’s good to see Klay back on the court after suffering so many setbacks in his recovery. He finally gets a chance to prove his doubters wrong,” said Beckley.
