Overview

On Friday, March 16, the next official Marvel Cinematic Universe (or MCU for short) series was released after the success and popularity of ‘WandaVision’.  ‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ kicks off the new series by following Sam Wilson (Falcon) and Bucky Barnes (Winter Soldier) for the first time after the events of Avengers: Endgame, and things are looking good for the future of the series.

The Story

First off, the story. So far, the story has covered where these characters are after the events of ‘Avengers: Endgame’, and also some of their own backstory. The episode begins with an action sequence involving Falcon. It seems that Sam and Bucky both don’t want to be the people they were before, with Sam going back to his hometown and helping his family, and Bucky trying to quit being the Winter Soldier.

Some Positives

So far, CGI effects, acting, and pacing seems to be great as it usually is in the MCU. In ‘WandaVision’, some of the CGI effects in the last episode looked a little on the jittery side, but so far this doesn’t seem to be the case for Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The actors, whether new characters or familiar ones, do a phenomenal job in this first episode as well.

Verdict

Overall, ‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ has great potential as the next Disney+ MCU series. A combination of great acting, characters with depth and backstory, and good CGI create a great first episode that will leave viewers wanting to know what is next.
