What will the 2021 Awards Season look like?

With the COVID-19 still spreading throughout the country, the 2021 Awards Season will surely look different. That being said, what will award shows like the Oscars and the Grammy’s look like?

The Oscars 2021

The 93 annual Oscars will take place in about two months on April 25th. The event was originally supposed to be airing in February 2021, but was delayed because it was estimated that COVID-19 cases would decrease and movie theaters would be opened by spring.

As of right now, it seems that will not be the case, so the safety precautions and limited capacity will take place at the Dolby Theatre.

The Grammys

This year, the 63rd Grammys will be held on March 14th and will be hosted by Trevor Noah. This date, like the Oscars, was also delayed. It was originally supposed to be held on January 31st. Tons upon tons of artists have released new albums and singles; new artists have risen to the top charts; and most have done “quarantine albums,” “quarantine songs,” or “quarantine covers.” As long as safety precautions are taken seriously and everything goes to plan, the Grammys will air this year.

The Golden Globes

On Sunday, February 28th, the Golden Globes aired. It was very interesting because it was so different from the Golden Globes of the past. The show was presented in a “zoom meeting” format. Actors, actresses, directors, screenwriters, and more awaited their awards virtually, as well as some in-person hosts and announcers too. At first glance, this may just be the new normal because some live shows have gone the zoom route before, but this year’s Golden Globes give us a taste of what we could be expecting from other award ceremonies in the near future.

Overall, the awards season this year will obviously be different and new as compared to years past. But no matter dates or delays, the opportunity for these events to happen again is a blessing.
