‘The Bachelor’ will feature the first black ‘bachelor’ Matt James
Matt James is the first black ‘bachelor’ featured on ‘The Bachelor’.
He will headline the 25th season in the making. Many fans of the popular show are excited to see how this season starts off, especially with Matt James.
“My first impression of him was that I thought he was super kind, I think one thing that sets him apart from other bachelors in particular is his faith and how he is so open about it, as well as he tries to be vulnerable with everyone,” said Brooke Inman (‘22).
Matt James is biracial, with his father being black and his mother being white. James cannot wait to share his experience on national TV.
“I think a lot of people saw that there hadn’t been a ton of diversity in the franchise, so I think it was a really great choice how they decided to make a change and go in new directions and try to diversity the casts and crew,” said Inman (‘22).
James mentions that during his season, there will be more normalized conversations regarding race and interracial relationships. This is because he believes that in a relationship, it is important to talk about that with one another.
“I think it is important and I’m glad that he is talking about it. I definitely think it is something that should be normalized and I’m glad that it is finally being talked about on this show,” said Elizabeth Hollmyer (‘22).
